FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Farmhouse Tap & Grill Taps a New Bar Manager

(December 2, 2011)
We are pleased to announced that Jeff Baker will be taking the beer program & taproom reigns at The Farmhouse Tap & Grill.  Jeff brings 7 years of beverage industry and restaurant experience to the position.  Farmhouse’s former Bar Manager, Chad Rich, has left to pursue his own venture.  Chad tapped Jeff Baker to take over the helm at Farmhouse and has been grooming Mr. Baker for several weeks now.

Most recently Jeff was the Beer Buyer and “Curator of the Collection” for Beverage Warehouse in Winooski, VT, the state’s largest beer and wine retail outlet.  Before his return to Vermont, Jeff was the Wine Educator for The Wine Gallery of Brookline and Boston, MA, helping them earn the “Best of Boston: Wine Shop” two years in a row.  While in Boston Jeff also earned certificates from the International Sommelier Guild and the Elizabeth Bishop Wine Resource Center at Boston University.

Jeff’s extensive knowledge of the beer and wine industry coupled with his background in Philosophy will support The Farmhouse Tap & Grill’s mission to establish a sustainable food system and deliver superior local products from the farm to the table….not to mention keep Farmhouse’s great brews a-flowing.

About The Farmhouse Tap & Grill:
The Farmhouse Tap & Grill opened in 2010 as a joint venture between Paul Sayler, Rob Downey, Jed Davis and a group of investors all dedicated to the concept of sustainable food systems.  The farm-to-table restaurant was paired with a craft beer tap room to showcase the bounty of Vermont brews.  Brews from our backyard and beyond are tapped side by side to demonstrate that some of the best beers in the world are produced right here in the Green Mountain state.

New IPA's and more Steals & Deals!

Lots of goodies this weekend:

After long last, the much anticipated new release from Southern Tier, 2XIPA 6 packs are now in stock and ready to rock. This is a new Double IPA from S.T. that stacks up in attitude between their regular IPA and their Un*Earthly Imperial IPA. Love it. Get some! (Also on draft at The Farmhouse Tap & Grill).

Furthermore, another new(-ish) Imperial IPA from Rogue, the XS Imperial IPA 7oz bottles have arrived and are located in the Rare & Vintage Cabinet due to their small stature. Big beer, small bottle, smaller price tag than before. How could things get any better, you ask? Well, Rogue also sent us 750mL's of their newest Double Rogue - Double Chocolate Stout!

Seasonal additions:
- Otter Creek Oktoberfest 6 and 12 pks
- Magic Hat Night of the Living Dead Variety 12pks

And something completely strange:
+ Coors Light 5.7 Liter "Home Draft" mini-keg-type-thingys They actually look like a propane tank or incendiary device! Weird.

And if those weren't enough reasons to love us, we restocked our Steals & Deals Room today:
- Grimbergen Blonde and Double 6 packs $3.99 + dep. (Reg. 11.29!)
- Otter Creek Russian Imperial Stout 22oz and Quercus Vitus Humulus 22oz $2.99 (Reg. $5.99!)
- Sam Adams Cream Stout 6 packs $3.99 + dep.
- Smirnoff Ice 22oz $0.99! That's Ninety-nine cents!

And oh, yeh - one last thing:
CLOSEOUT KEGS!!!!
- Sam Adams Noble Pils 1/2 barrels
- Otter Creek Kolsch 1/2 barrels
- Wolaver's Coffee Porter 5 gallons
- Beck's 1/2 barrels

Call or stop by for keg pricing! These won't last long!

Whew. That was a lot of work. Hope to see you soon!
Cheers,
Jeff

Happy American Craft Beer Week!

Oh, yes good patrons of Craftily Constructed Creations of Carbonated Concoctions, 'tis American Craft Beer Week once again and time to show your support for those who Artfully render your delicious libations.

Now this is no mere ploy to get you to come in and shop, oh no! dear friends and brew-patriots! This is a call for all of you to reach out to your favorite craft brewers and give them a slap on the back, a high-five, a hoot, a "Like," a "Tweet," and to say thank you to them for what they do! They are truly artists, struggling against the giants to get their hand-made beers into your glass.

So this week, make it a special point to order a Hill Farmstead, a Rock Art, a Trapp Lager, an Otter Creek or a Wolaver's, a Magic Hat, a McNeill's, perhaps a Trout River or Harpoon, an elusive Lawson's, a Switchback or a pint of Long Trail. Make a trip to the Alchemist, the Bobcat Cafe, Three Needs, American Flatbread Burlington Hearth, Madison or Norwich Inn, the Shed or Vermont Pub. Or if you live in the Burlington area, stop in the brand new Farmhouse Tap & Grill and sample a number of these fine Vermont-brewed craft beers all (responsibly) in one sitting!

I tip my hat to all you Publicans, all you Brewers, all you who make Vermont one of the best beer states in this nation! Happy Craft Beer Week!

Cheers,
Jeff

Mardis Gras F.P.G.Fri. announced and SALES!

I know, this is getting ridiculous: another Free Pint Glass Friday was just booked for Feb. 20th, 5pm-8pm, with our new Rep. from Magic Hat, John. Same rules apply: stop in, try their newest odd notion, the newest seasonal and all the year rounders in a M.H. pint glass, and you my friend get to keep that pint glass! No strings attached...well, there might be strings of beads attached since we're going to be amping you up for the impending Mardis Gras weekend! Mark your calendars!

In other news, I marked down a few really tasty beers this week, just cause I'm a nice guy! Gulden Draak magnums are now $5 off and Three Philosophers 4packs are $2 off! Get 'em while they last!

And lastly, got in a really limited amount of Ommegang gold-rimmed chalices. $6 each and they're right by the front door with the other stems and pints.

Cheers,
Jeff

PS> New arrivals:
+ Blue Moon variety 12 pack (Blue, Full, and Pale Moons)

From the Desk of Jen (Owner)

Hi-yo! I got an email today (my day off) from Co-Owner Jen regarding new beers:
"We got in new Rouge's today including more of the "XS" series and Dead Guy growlers...we also got in 5 liter cans! I already have them in the system. All hand marked and on the shelf. Phew!"

She also told me that the Magic Hat/Orlio tasting is going to have to be postponed due to complications getting a tasting license from the Vermont DLC. I'll let you know when we get a date.

Cheers,
Jeff

It's Harvest time! And beer tasting time!

So the hops have been picked, they've been overnighted to the breweries, the beer's been made, shipped out and Wet Hop/Harvest Ales are arriving at the Bevy! Sierra Nevada's much sought after 12th release of their Harvest Ale Wet Hop is now in stock, but flying out the door by the case. Don't miss out on this once a year (well, ok, they made a Southern Hemisphere one, so twice a year) brew! Harpoon's Glacier Harvest '08 Wet Hop Beer (100 Barrell series #24) arrive just today and is on the shelf for your purchasing pleasure. I'm actually sipping on one right now, and it's mighty fine. A little less hoppy than the Sierra one, but a great big bottle session beer.

Also in, for the first time in VT, is Smuttynose Wheat Wine (Style) Ale. At 11.4%, it's the strongest beer that Smutty puts out. Somewhat sweet and really rich, this bad boy should age gracefully and improve in the cellar. Stash a few bottles, but drink a couple this winter. This beer will take the chill out of your bones. I'd serve it at cellar temp. (65 degrees F) and in a snifter or wide wine glass.

Brasserie Dupont's "Avril" has arrive in 750mL bottles. Haven't gotten into it yet, but I plan to tomorrow.

And finally: FREE BEER TASTING! (POSTPONED * See Next Blog for explanation)
Friday, November 7th, from 4pm to 8 pm, clear your calendar because Magic Hat & Orlio Organic Ales are going to be in house pouring samples of their tasty local brews. And not only that, but they'll be pouring into full-sized pint glasses, glasses which you'll get to keep if you step in and taste. Oh yeh! Free beer and a free (not stolen) pint glass! What could be better?
